I got an interesting question from a small law firm owner the other day.
“How often should we update our website’s styling?” he asked.
Before signing up for LawLytics, he hadn’t changed the look of his website for several years. By the time he decided to make a change and move over to LawLytics, his website was behind the times:
It took forever to load. It wasn’t fully responsive.
Needless to say, he was excited to get his site redesigned on the LawLytics platform. He was also excited that LawLytics now offers anytime website design refreshes.
Today, any LawLytics member can change the look and feel of their website whenever they want. Want to try changing the look of your homepage? Maybe try some new colors throughout your website? Just tell us what you want to refresh and our team takes care of the rest. It’s quick, easy, and best of all, it’s included with a LawLytics membership.
There are three main reasons why you should restyle your website:
- You’ve grown tired of the look of your website. Chances are pretty good you’ll look at your website more than anyone else will. Over time, the image you use on your homepage or the colors you picked for your site may start to feel stale. When that happens, it may be time to make a change.
- Your practice has changed. Have you added a new practice area or want to change your approach to attracting clients as the market in your area shifts? If so, a restyle may make sense.
- Your website has become dated. User expectations and behaviors change rapidly. What’s in vogue today for website design may look out of place in the future. To ensure your website isn’t costing you opportunities, it’s always best to keep your site up-to-date with the latest agreed-upon user experience (UX) expectations*.
*Note: it’s important to distinguish between UX best practices (e.g. your site looks good on all screen sizes and devices — computer, tablet, smartphone) and vanity trends. Always ask yourself two questions: Will this really improve the experience for someone that visits my website? Will it increase the likelihood that they will decide to hire me? If it’s something that won’t move the needle for your firm or will slow your site down, it’s probably a vanity trend you’ll benefit from avoiding.
